It’s Michelle Wright, I’m back to continue chatting through our topic for the month of May about Mental Fitness. Today, let’s talk about Mental Power.

Way back about 33 years ago, in 1990, there was a song that came out by the group Snap! called “The Power.”

The refrain went something like this: “I’ve got the power. You could break my heart apart, but I’ve got the power.” The song goes on to repeat that things are both getting “kind of heavy” and “kind of hectic”.

I’m not gonna lie, I feel like that…a lot! Things are both heavy and hectic in my life, and I long to have The Power to just make it through. Just this week in fact, I was having a very hard time personally and trying to communicate with someone close to me and all I could get out is, “I can’t right now…I don’t have the capacity to deal with this. I’m just trying to survive and make it to my bed.”  I was completely out of Mental Power. Have you ever experienced anything like that?

So, I went to our Live Your Vision team and asked, “What is Mental Power?” And there were some great responses, like:

“The capacity to retain knowledge and push forward through adversity.”

“Mental Power is the power to push past emotions, tiredness, and circumstances to train my brain to show up when I need it. Like teaching LYV classes from Australia at 2 am).”

“Mental Power is the ability to generate clear, decisive, focused, high-level thought on command and to focus and finish.”

“Showing up in the midst of the unexpected with the ability to look for opportunities in the obstacles.”

Can I confess something to you? I had none of that. Let’s just say I was mentally powerless which led me to my default of getting down on myself for not having the power.

It’s like I’d been going to the gym for 6 months and lifting weights and getting toned and strong, then for whatever reason, I take 6 months off. What happens? I get flabby in all the places I’d gained strength and power, I struggle to even lift a quarter of what I had lifted before.

But fortunately, I didn’t stay there. I remembered what we here at Live Your Vision call our Rules or Guidelines for Optimal Living.  I had gotten away from many of them and then realized I needed to add some new ones to my list. I remembered to go to my community for help to reset and refocus my mind to build up my power again.

We’re going to be talking about how to gain that mental power during our Renew Your Vision event on Saturday, June 3rd. You’ll be able to take an assessment to see where you are in 5 key categories including mental power.  Then you’ll hear from our team of coaches and real women who are thriving in their mental fitness journeys.

Joni us to learn how thoughts are becoming things and thus visions and dreams, a reality (click here to grab your spot) for women all over that have become mentally fit!

Remember, Mental Fitness can either make or break your future.  And we’re ready to enter the future like we enter the summer… fit and ready to take on the future!

Bring your training buddy and let’s train together.

With Love,
Michelle
